Mobile Wedding Venues: Your Guide to Wedding Venues in Mobile, AL and Mobile County
Last updated: October 28, 2026
Mobile is Alabama's Gulf port city, with Southern architecture, oak-lined streets, and a downtown built for weddings: historic houses with iron lace, a boutique hotel, courtyards on Dauphin Street, and a museum devoted to Mardi Gras. Out past the city, Semmes, Theodore, and Grand Bay have farms and event barns, and Dauphin Island sits on the Gulf about an hour south.
This guide covers wedding venues in Mobile and the towns around it. We've organized it by venue style and by area, with honest advice on what to ask, how to plan around Gulf Coast weather and Mardi Gras season, and where to find value. If you're looking across the bay, see our Fairhope and Eastern Shore wedding venues guide. For the beaches of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, see Gulf Coast wedding venues. For the rest of the state, start with our Alabama Wedding Venues guide.
How we list venues: Listings in this guide are free, and we don't sell rankings. If we add paid placements in the future, they will always be clearly labeled "Sponsored." Read our listing policy.
How to Choose a Wedding Venue in Mobile
Start with three numbers: your guest count, your budget, and your date. Then use these Mobile-specific questions to narrow the list.
1. Decide: downtown, historic, or out in the country? Downtown and historic venues put your guests close to hotels and restaurants. Country venues in Semmes, Theodore, and Grand Bay offer more space and privacy, but guests will drive further, often 20 to 30 minutes.
2. Map the drive for your guests. Mobile Regional Airport (MOB) is about 30 minutes from downtown. Pensacola International (PNS) is about an hour and 10 minutes east, New Orleans is about two hours and 45 minutes west, and Atlanta (ATL) is about six hours by car. Fairhope and the Eastern Shore are about 30 minutes across Mobile Bay, and Gulf Shores is about an hour and 10 minutes south.
3. Plan around Gulf Coast weather. Spring (March through May) and fall (October through early November) are the most popular. Summers are hot and humid with afternoon storms, and hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, with the highest risk from mid-August to mid-October. Ask every outdoor venue: What is the rain plan, and what happens if a tropical storm threatens the date?
4. Mind Mardi Gras. Mobile's Carnival season brings parades, street closures, and full hotels to downtown in the weeks before Fat Tuesday. A wedding downtown during that stretch needs earlier planning for rooms, parking, and guest arrival, though some couples build the wedding around it.
5. Ask about climate control. This matters most for barns, courtyards, and pavilions. Confirm that the space is air-conditioned, not just fan-cooled.
6. Check the vendor and alcohol rules. Many venues require approved caterers or bartenders, and historic properties may limit decor and open flame. Alcohol rules also vary by city and county in Alabama; the Alabama ABC Board publishes a list of wet cities. Ask each venue how drinks are handled.
7. Get it in writing. Confirm the deposit, payment schedule, cancellation and weather policy, any required insurance, the hours included, and who handles setup and cleanup.
Questions to ask on every Mobile venue tour
- What dates do you have open in our season, and do prices change by day of the week?
- What's included in the rental fee, and what costs extra?
- What is the maximum capacity for a seated dinner? For a standing reception?
- Is the ceremony and reception space air-conditioned and heated?
- What is the rain and hurricane-season plan?
- Do you require specific vendors or event insurance? What are the alcohol rules?
- How far is the venue from the nearest hotels, and where do guests park?
- Is the venue accessible for guests with limited mobility?

Budget Tips for a Mobile Wedding
The Knot's 2026 Real Weddings Study puts the average wedding in Alabama at about $27,000 (ceremony and reception, not including the engagement ring), below the national average of $34,200. Venue prices vary widely by day and season, so ask each venue for a current quote.
Ways to stretch your budget in Mobile:
- Look beyond downtown. Banquet halls and farm venues in west Mobile, Semmes, and Theodore can be priced differently than downtown spaces with similar capacity. Compare full quotes.
- Choose a Friday, Sunday, or weekday. Many venues charge less than their Saturday rate, especially in peak spring and fall months.
- Consider the shoulder months. Late winter and the hottest weeks of summer are usually less in demand. If you choose summer, an evening ceremony and an air-conditioned reception make it comfortable.
- Compare all-inclusive packages. Several Mobile venues bundle tables, chairs, coordination, or lodging. Add up what you'd otherwise rent before comparing prices.
- Keep ceremony and reception in one place. You'll save on transportation and avoid a second venue fee.
- Ask about hotel blocks and shuttles. Country venues may need a shuttle, which is an extra line item. Factor it in when comparing a downtown venue against a rural one.
- Ask for a sample invoice. Service charges, gratuity, sales tax, security, insurance, and overtime fees add up. Get the full picture before signing.
Mobile Wedding Venue FAQs
When is the best time of year to get married in Mobile?
Spring (March through May) and fall (October through early November) are the most popular, with milder temperatures and less humidity. Summer weddings work with an evening ceremony and air-conditioned reception space. Ask about weather policies for any date from June through November, and check the Mardi Gras calendar before you lock in a winter or early-spring date downtown.
How much does a wedding venue cost in Mobile, AL?
It depends on the season, the day of the week, the guest count, and what's included. Statewide, The Knot's 2026 study puts the average Alabama wedding at about $27,000 total. Weekday dates, smaller guest lists, and venues outside downtown often cost less. Always ask for a full quote with taxes and fees.
Are there historic wedding venues in Mobile?
Yes. Downtown and Midtown Mobile have historic houses, inns, and house museums that rent their parlors, courtyards, and grounds for weddings. Capacity at historic properties is often smaller, so check the guest limit and the indoor backup plan.
Can we get married on the beach on Dauphin Island?
The Town of Dauphin Island's beaches page lists the Public Beach and Pier, Fort Gaines, and Cadillac Square as wedding venues, and the public beach is booked through the Town. The Dauphin Island Park & Beach Board also lists Fort Gaines and Cadillac Square. Contact the Town for current rules, dates, and fees. For Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, where weddings on public beaches are restricted, see the beach-wedding FAQ on our Gulf Coast wedding venues guide.
What about hurricane season?
The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, with the highest risk from mid-August through mid-October. A direct hit on a given date is unlikely, but a storm can change travel and venue plans days ahead. Before you sign with a Mobile venue, ask what happens if a named storm threatens your date: Can you move the date at no charge? Is the deposit refundable or transferable? Who decides whether the event goes ahead? Consider travel and event insurance, and set up hotel blocks with flexible cancellation.
What's the closest airport for a Mobile wedding?
Mobile Regional Airport (MOB), about 30 minutes from downtown. Pensacola International (PNS) is about an hour and 10 minutes east, New Orleans is about two hours and 45 minutes west, and Atlanta (ATL) is about six hours by car.
How far in advance should we book a Mobile wedding venue?
Many couples book 10 to 14 months ahead, especially for Saturdays in spring and fall. If you're flexible on the date or day of the week, you can often book on a shorter timeline.
Do we need a marriage license to get married in Mobile?
Alabama no longer issues marriage licenses. Couples complete and notarize an Alabama Marriage Certificate form and record it with any Alabama county probate court within 30 days. Our step-by-step guide explains how: How to Get Married in Alabama.
