How We List Venues (and Why We Don't Sell Rankings)
Alabama Wedding Guide is an independent, Alabama-based wedding publication. Couples use our guides to make one of the biggest decisions of their lives, so we want you to know exactly how venues end up on our pages.
The short version
- Listings are free. Any Alabama wedding venue can submit a free listing.
- We don't sell rankings. Nobody can pay to be called "best," to get a better review, or to be included in our editorial picks.
- Paid placements, if we offer them, will always be labeled. In the future we may offer paid "Sponsored" listings. They will always carry a clear "Sponsored" label, and they will never change what we write about a venue.
How venues get listed
- A venue submits its information through our Get Listed form, or our team adds a venue we've found through our own research.
- We review it. We check that the venue is a real, operating wedding venue in Alabama, and that the basics are accurate: location, venue type, capacity, and website. We may contact the venue to confirm details.
- We publish it in the right city or regional guide. We may edit descriptions for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
Submitting a venue doesn't guarantee a listing. We may decline or remove listings that are inaccurate, not a wedding venue, no longer operating, or that use photos the venue doesn't have rights to.
How venues are ordered
Free listings are organized by area and venue type. Within each section, they're shown in alphabetical order. We don't move a venue up or down because of payment.
Editorial picks
From time to time we may highlight venues in roundups or "editor's picks." Those choices are made by our editorial team based on what we think will help couples, and they are never for sale. If we're ever given something for free, like a tour or a meal, to help with our coverage, we'll say so.
Sponsored listings (coming later)
Once our guides reach enough readers, we plan to offer venues the option to pay for added visibility, such as a featured spot at the top of a section or extra photos. When we do:
- Every paid placement will be clearly labeled "Sponsored."
- Sponsored listings will be kept visually separate from editorial picks.
- Paying won't change our descriptions, our advice, or our editorial picks, and not paying won't hurt a venue's free listing.
Until then, every listing on this site is free.
Prices, photos, and reviews
- Prices: We only publish prices or price ranges we've confirmed with the venue. Prices change, so always get a current quote.
- Photos: We only use photos that venues provide with permission, or that we have the rights to use.
- Reviews: We don't publish fake or paid reviews. We don't currently have couple reviews or ratings. We may add them in the future, and if we do, we'll explain how they work and how they're moderated here.
Corrections and removals
See something out of date or wrong? Venue owners and readers can email us at hello@alabamaweddingguide.com and we'll review it promptly. Venue owners can also ask us to update or remove their listing at any time.
