Lake Martin Wedding Venues: Your Guide to Weddings in Dadeville, Alexander City, Eclectic, and Tallassee
Last updated: October 28, 2026
Lake Martin is a large lake on the Tallapoosa River in east-central Alabama, with shoreline in Tallapoosa, Elmore, and Coosa counties. For couples, it means lake views, sunsets over the water, and venues that range from farms on the hills above the shore to lakefront lodges, a Victorian bed and breakfast, and a chapel campus on the water. Many venues here also have rooms or cabins, so the wedding party can stay on site.
This guide covers wedding venues around Lake Martin, including Dadeville, Alexander City, Eclectic, and Tallassee. We've organized it by venue style and by area, with honest advice on what to ask, how to plan around the lake's weather and drive times, and where to find value. If you're also looking at nearby cities, see our Auburn-Opelika wedding venues guide or our Montgomery wedding venues guide. For the rest of the state, start with our Alabama Wedding Venues guide.
How we list venues: Listings in this guide are free, and we don't sell rankings. If we add paid placements in the future, they will always be clearly labeled "Sponsored." Read our listing policy.
How to Choose a Lake Martin Wedding Venue
Start with three numbers: your guest count, your budget, and your date. Then use these Lake Martin-specific questions to narrow the list.
1. Decide: on the water, with a lake view, or near the lake? Lake Martin venues fall into three groups. A few sit on the water itself, many overlook it from a hill, and others are in town and a short drive from the shore. Pick the setting you want before you start touring, and ask each venue whether guests will actually be able to see or reach the water.
2. Map the drive for your guests. Lake Martin is not close to a major airport. From Dadeville, Auburn is about 35 minutes, Montgomery about 1 hour 30 minutes, and Atlanta (ATL) about 2 hours 30 minutes. From Alexander City, Birmingham-Shuttlesworth (BHM) is about 1 hour 40 minutes and Montgomery about 1 hour 20 minutes. Eclectic and Tallassee are closer to Montgomery, about 45 minutes. Plan hotel blocks and, if you can, a shuttle for late-night rides.
3. Ask about overnight stays. Several venues here have lodge rooms, guest houses, cabins, or a bed and breakfast, and some pair a wedding with a weekend stay. Ask what's included, how many guests can sleep on site, and whether the room count changes by season.
4. Plan around Alabama weather. Spring (March through May) and fall (October and early November) are the most popular wedding seasons. Summers are hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms that can pop up fast. Spring is also the region's main severe-weather season, so ask every outdoor venue: What is the rain plan, where do guests go if a storm warning is issued, and is the backup space included in the price?
5. Ask about seasons and shade. Some Lake Martin venues take weddings only part of the year (one lakefront cottage here books weddings from September 15 through May 15), and outdoor ceremonies in summer need shade, fans, or a cool backup space. For a summer wedding, confirm that the indoor space is air-conditioned, not just fan-cooled.
6. Check the vendor and alcohol rules. Many venues require caterers or bartenders from an approved list, and some require licensed and insured bartenders. Alcohol rules also vary by city and county in Alabama, so ask each venue what's allowed and whether you need a permit. The Alabama ABC Board publishes a list of wet cities. A venue outside those cities may handle alcohol differently, so ask how drinks are handled.
7. Get it in writing. Confirm the deposit, payment schedule, cancellation and weather policy, any required insurance, the hours included, and who handles setup and cleanup.

- Do you have on-site rooms, and how many guests can stay overnight?

Budget Tips for a Lake Martin Wedding
The Knot's 2026 Real Weddings Study puts the average wedding in Alabama at about $27,000 (ceremony and reception, not including the engagement ring), below the national average of $34,200. Venue prices vary widely by day and season, so ask each venue for a current quote.
Ways to stretch your budget at Lake Martin:
- Consider a Friday or Sunday. Saturdays in spring and fall are in highest demand. Weekday and Friday dates can be easier to book.
- Look one town over. Venues in Dadeville, Alexander City, Eclectic, and Tallassee can be priced differently than lakefront resorts with similar capacity. Compare full quotes.
- Consider the shoulder months. Late winter and the hottest weeks of summer are usually less in demand. If you choose summer, an evening ceremony and an air-conditioned reception make it comfortable.
- Compare packages. Several venues bundle lodging, tables and chairs, or coordination. Add up what you'd otherwise rent before comparing prices.
- Keep ceremony and reception in one place. You'll save on transportation and avoid a second venue fee.
- Consider a lodging venue. Venues with on-site rooms can reduce hotel blocks and shuttle needs, especially when the nearest hotels are a drive away.
- Ask for a sample invoice. Service charges, gratuity, sales tax, security, insurance, and overtime fees add up. Get the full picture before signing.
Lake Martin Wedding Venue FAQs
When is the best time of year to get married at Lake Martin?
Spring (March through May) and fall (October and early November) are the most popular, with milder temperatures and less humidity. Summers are hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms. Spring is also the region's main severe-weather season, so every outdoor plan needs a solid indoor backup. Some venues only take weddings in part of the year, so ask about season dates early.
How much does a wedding venue cost at Lake Martin?
It depends on the season, the day of the week, the guest count, and what's included. Statewide, The Knot's 2026 study puts the average Alabama wedding at about $27,000 total. Weekday dates, smaller guest lists, and venues outside the resort areas often cost less. Always ask for a full quote with taxes and fees.
Are there wedding venues right on Lake Martin?
Yes. Some venues are on the water or have lakefront space, and others overlook the lake from a hill or are a short drive away. For example, Children's Harbor's chapel campus and Russell Lands are on the lake, and Lakewood on Lake Martin, part of Eclectic Warehouse Venues, is a lakefront cottage. Ask each venue exactly where the ceremony and reception sit in relation to the water.
Are there barn wedding venues near Lake Martin?
Yes. There are farm and barn venues around Dadeville and Tallassee, some with lake views. They range from rustic to fully climate-controlled, so confirm air conditioning and heating for your date.
How far is Lake Martin from Auburn, Montgomery, and Birmingham?
Dadeville is about 35 minutes from Auburn, and Alexander City about 50 minutes. Montgomery is about 1 hour 20 minutes from Alexander City and 1 hour 30 minutes from Dadeville, and closer, about 45 minutes, to Eclectic and Tallassee. Birmingham is about 1 hour 40 minutes from Alexander City.
What's the closest airport for a Lake Martin wedding?
There's no major airport on the lake. Most guests fly into Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM), Birmingham-Shuttlesworth (BHM) or Atlanta (ATL) and drive the rest of the way, so plan 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the airport and the town.
How far in advance should we book a Lake Martin wedding venue?
Many couples book 10 to 14 months ahead, especially for Saturdays in spring and fall. Venues with lodging can fill up for the whole weekend, so ask early.
Do we need a marriage license to get married at Lake Martin?
Alabama no longer issues marriage licenses. Couples complete and notarize an Alabama Marriage Certificate form and record it with any Alabama county probate court within 30 days. Our step-by-step guide explains how: How to Get Married in Alabama.
